The Miami Herald reports that the gold medalist has purchased a seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom, 12,000-square-foot-home on Miami's South Beach for $12.5 million. The property features a gourmet kitchen, a gym, elevator, pool and 20-foot ceilings - important for someone who's more than seven feet tall. It was originally listed at more than $16 million.
"When he saw the house, he was overwhelmed,'' listing agent Lourdes Alatriste, of real estate firm Engel & Voelkers, told the paper. "It's perfect for him. He's seen a lot of houses, but he wanted a brand new house.''
The paper reports that the home is also the place where the 27-year-old proposed to his now-fiancé earlier this year.
The Heat's other major offseason acquisition, former Cleveland star LeBron James, is also finalizing plans to move to Florida. James is rumored to be on the verge of purchasing a $7.6 million in Coconut Grove.
