Sunset Village, which opened in 1951, has started to fall apart, according to a recent Kansas City Star report. With cracked roads and a problematic water supply, many residents were already facing an uphill battle before the community's foreclosure problem hit.
"If this community is lost, I think they're absolutely priced out of Glenview," Kate Walz, legal counsel for the Sunset Village residents, told the news source.
Many individuals may have moved to Sunset Village because of the affordable prices. According to the news source, homes at the park sell for $60,000 or less. This is significantly less than the $369,600 median price for homes in Glenview, as reported by Zillow in May.
With the housing market continuing to struggle throughout the nation, many Americans find themselves in similar circumstances as those in Sunset Village. A number of individuals have opted to refinance their mortgages to obtain lower rates, while others have hired rental trucks in order to move to a smaller, less expensive home.
