Oscar- and Grammy-winning singer Jennifer Hudson has a contract pending on a Burr Ridge, Illinois, home that was placed on the market for almost $2.8 million.
The former American Idol contestant placed an offer on the 12,000-square-foot home and is expected to close the deal in January, Chicago Magazine reported.
According to the source, the estate was originally listed for $4.2 million, which would mean Hudson secured a 33 percent price cut on the home. The house, which has been on the market since 2006, features six bedrooms and eight bathrooms.
Bank of America foreclosed on mortgages that totaled $2.4 million against the house, according to the Cook County Recorder of Deeds, the source stated. The home was custom built by the sellers in 2004 after buying the lot from a developer for $435,000.
Hudson, who is a native of Chicago, recently celebrated the grand opening of her Weight Watcher's Center in the Kenwood neighborhood of the city with Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
The singer might be packing
up her former home soon, but will be also busy with multiple films she has in the works, including "The Three Stooges" and "Winnie."
The average value of a home in the Burr Ridge neighborhood is $550,900, according to Zillow.
