Kilpatrick is currently in prison awaiting a hearing for allegations of income tax and fraud violations, the Detroit News reported. Without his income, the family - which includes his wife and three sons - were forced to relocate to a less luxurious abode.
The Kilpatrick family had to move from their $1 million Texas mansion with a back yard swimming pool and landscaped gardens to a smaller four-bedroom home valued at $235,000, the Detroit News said. This would be the second move for the family since the husband's incarceration. The first from Michigan to Texas, and now from Southlake to Grand Prairie.
The family has had a number of financial troubles because of the allegations against Kilpatrick. When moving, it's likely that they researched their options in order to obtain the most affordable relocation services. Renting a truck or using a portable storage device, such as a pod, would have been a good financial move.
