Cotton Companies relocating Texas headquarters

After 10 years of operation in northwest Houston, the Cotton Companies is moving its corporate headquarters to Katy, Texas, meaning more moving trucks may be seen in the town about 30 miles from Houston. The global disaster solutions company is developing the Cotton Campus, a 33-acre property that will have multiple buildings to support global growth.

"The Cotton Companies have successfully built their reputation of excellence to expand throughout the world," said co-founder and CEO Pete Bell. "Our new campus positions us at the forefront of major disasters as we continue to set the expectations of clients in our industry and build lasting partnerships on a global level."

Before the relocation, the Katy site was home to Cotton executives and the Cotton Foundation's recreational grounds. The Cotton Foundation is dedicated to helping children whose lives have been affected by natural disasters and other life-changing events. The grounds has an area where affected families can have a private retreat and partake in outdoor activities.

The average listing price for Katy homes in the week ending September 28 was $264,814, down 0.1 percent from the previous week, according to Trulia. The median sales price from June to August 2011 was $102,850, up 14 percent from the same period in 2010.
