Minneapolis may be the right place for you to settle down if you like outdoor activities.

Some people like the busy atmosphere of a city, but also like to get away when the time is right. If you are this type of person, packing and moving to Minneapolis may not be a bad idea. There are many activities available in the city, as well as a large amount of outdoor options in the area.

Minneapolis has a population of nearly 388,000, and the vast majority of its citizens are younger, all but 8 percent of those living in the city are younger than 65 years of age, so this could be a good destination for those interested in a vibrant area with many young people.

The city is one of the two "Twin Cities," as it is close to another large metropolitan area - St. Paul. The two cities make for a host of different accommodation and entertainment options. It is the state's capital, and when combined, the MSA has a total population exceeding 3 million.

One of the most famous attractions in the greater Minneapolis area is the Mall of America. If you love shopping, or just love sightseeing, traveling to nearby Bloomingdale may be a good idea. The mall has more than 400 stores and is one of the largest shopping centers in the country. Additionally, if shopping isn't your thing, the mall has several attractions including a large movie theater, aquarium and an amusement park.

Minneapolis has easy access to many sports teams, as the National Basketball Association's Timberwolves play in the city, as well as Major League Baseball's Twins and the National Football Leagues' Vikings. The Minnesota Wild play in St. Paul, and are the local National Hockey League representative.

The city is the home of the University of Minnesota, as well as several other places of higher education.

Land of 10,000 Lakes has many outdoor activities
Minnesota may be a great place for those who love fishing and boating. Much of the state is covered in large lakes, which could give you many options to have a weekend getaway, or just a quick break from city life.

Depending on what type of fish you are looking to catch, fishing season lasts for much of the year. Whatever weather or season you prefer, there may be something for you in the state.
