Honolulu may be a great place to move if you love warm weather and a lot of coastline.

Honolulu may be a great place to move if you love warm weather and a lot of coastline.

If you like warm and wet weather, as well as a laid back atmosphere, then moving off of the mainland to Honolulu may be the right decision. No worries about trying to grab all of your stuff and put it on an airplane, as your moving company will be able to take it to the Hawaiian Islands.

Honolulu County has a population of more than 963,000 people, and this makes up the city itself, as well as the island of Oahu. The city has a bus transit system that will get you to many of the necessary locations. Meanwhile, there is a planned rail system under construction, which will be on-line in the next few years. This could be very attractive, especially if you plan to stay for more than a short time.

The weather in Honolulu does not change very often. The winter low temperature average is 65 degrees, while the average summer high temperature averages 88 degrees. The constant warm weather and rain allows for a humid climate that you won't ever have to worry about being cold in.

There are many places of higher education in the surrounding cities, including the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Chaminade University and Hawaii Pacific University. Multiple community colleges are available, as well.

While there are no professional sports available in the city, or even the state, there are many college sports. The University of Hawaii's Rainbow Warriors play multiple NCAA Division I sports, while the Chaminade Silverswords play in Division II. Chaminade's basketball team hosts the Maui Invitational against a group of Division I teams each year. The tournament takes place in nearby Lahaina, and is one of the more high-profile early season college tournaments.
