Colorado Springs has a varied climate, as the summers are warm and the winters can get relatively cold. The average summer high temperature is 85 degrees, while the average winter low temperature is 18 degrees, according to The Weather Channel. The bulk of precipitation in the city occurs during the summertime.

There are multiple higher education options available if you are looking to take classes, or want a four-year degree. The city is home to the Air Force Academy, Colorado College and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. Colorado State University-Pueblo is located slightly south of the city. If you are a sports fan, the city has some options for you. It is the home of the United States Olympic Committee, which doubles as a training area for many of the country's Olympic hopefuls. Colorado Springs also has a minor league baseball team, as the Pacific Coast League's Sky Sox play at Security Service Field. For college sports, both Colorado College and the Air Force Academy offer Division I sports.

City has many military bases
Colorado Springs is famous for its military bases, as it has multiple places in the area for various aspects of the country's military. In addition to the Air Force Academy, there is Fort Carson, which acts as an Army base. There are also two Air Force bases, as the Peterson Air Force Base and Schriever Air Force Base are located around the city. Finally, the city is the home of the North American Aerospace Defense Command, which manages the entire airspace of the contiguous 48 states, as well as Alaska. It also works with the Canadian military to manage its airspace.
