Chumi Paul, former NPR writer, recently purchased a Silver Lake-area home.
A former National Public Radio writer recently purchased a home in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles and will soon be searching for packing help to move into the estate.
Chumi Paul purchased the Rudolph Schindler-designed home for $600,000. The home was built in 1956 and is known as the last house that Schindler designed. Schindler died in 1953 at the age of 56 before the home was completed, but left a legacy that Paul will now enjoy.
The mid-century house has two bedrooms and 1.75 bathrooms in addition to another bedroom that can be used as an office. Original details of the home include wooden sconces, room dividers, pocket doors, cabinets and other custom aspects.
Los Angeles City College professor Philip Schlessigner and his wife, Phyllis, were the first residents of the estate, and Chumi will become the second owner of the 1,258-square-foot home.
According to David and Sandy Kinder of Keller Williams Realty in Studio City, Paul plans on restoring the house to his own taste.
The average home value in Silver Lake is $598,800, according to Zillow.
