Cary Elwes places Malibu home on the market

Actor Cary Elwes recently listed his Malibu home after living there since he purchased it in 1996.

The 2,700-plus-square-foot Mediterranean-style home sits on nearly an acre of land and features a red-tiled portico and interior archways that make the home a luxurious abode that might interest potential homebuyers who have hopes of packing moving boxes and relocating to a mansion.

Elwes is asking for close to $2 million for the home, which looks out on the Pacific Ocean and surrounding hillsides, featuring three bedrooms and three bathrooms in addition to expansive windows and a deck.

The 49-year-old actor has made appearances on the series "Psych" in 2009 and 2010, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" in 2007 and "The X-Files" in 2001 and 2002. Elwes also will star in the upcoming films "The Story of Luke" and "The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure."

According to public records, Elwes purchased the home in 1996 for $615,000.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie also recently sold their Malibu home to talk show host Ellen De Generes.
