Best seafood destinations around the country.

Baltimore is a great seafood destination.

Baltimore is a great seafood destination.

Seafood lovers typically want to live in an area where they can get their favorite foods at affordable prices and made with top-quality ingredients. There are great coastal seafood destinations all over the country, and depending on what you like, there may be a perfect destination for you to bring your moving boxes. You may want to consider some of these places when planning your next move.

Portland, Maine
In general, Main is a popular destination for those looking to relocate, and there may not be a better place in the state to get great seafood than in Portland. The city is centrally located, and this could allow you to visit all of the best destinations along the coast for seafood. Maine's seafood staple is lobster, and you can get it prepared in countless different forms. Whether you want to just grab a quick lobster roll for lunch, or you want to go to a fancy restaurant to dine on a full boiled lobster, the possibilities are nearly endless.

Anchorage
If you're tired of the lower 48, then heading up to Alaska could be the seafood destination that best fits your needs. Anchorage is the largest city in the Last Frontier State, and this means that there is plenty to do, no matter what time of year it is. Alaska's seafood claim to fame is king crab, and if this is one of your favorites, you can get it in bunches here. In addition, salmon is another popular fishing option. If you are the seafaring type, or just like fishing on the coast, you may be able to catch some of the seafood the city has to offer on your own.

Newport, Rhode Island
New England is a popular destination for seafood lovers, and if you don't want the hustle and bustle of larger cities such as Providence and Boston, then Newport may be a good spot. Although Newport is considered a resort town, it maintains a sizable population year-round, though it is more popular in the summer. Seafood is the preferred fare by many in the city, and you can get great options all over. While it may get cold in the winter, don't expect significant lines when going out to restaurants, as the population thins, which can work to your advantage.

Baltimore
The Mid-Atlantic is quite popular for seafood, and the center of it all is arguably in Baltimore. The city is large, which can make it an easy transition if you prefer a busy area. However, there are many quiet parts of town that can make for relaxed living and dining. Crab is a hugely popular aquatic option in the city, and Maryland is known for its crab cakes. Don't limit yourself to just crab, as there are many great seafood options in the city that will leave you wanting to try more and more different types.

Provincetown, Massachusetts
Cape Cod is another great seafood destination, if you didn't notice from its name. The tip of the cape, Provincetown, is a resort area that has good seafood options that are reflective of much of the Massachusetts coast. The cape is a short ferry ride from Boston, and no matter where you decide to make you home in the area, you can be sure that there's some sort of seafood that is to your liking. Be sure to try the clam chowder, as well as the myriad fish, lobster and crab options in the area.
