Best places to rent an apartment

Omaha has affordable apartment rents.

Omaha has affordable apartment rents.

Buying a home can be out of many people's price ranges, and some people just don't live in a city long enough to warrant making such a purchase. If you fit into these categories, then it may be a good idea to examine rental prices in many metropolitan areas.

There are plenty of affordable rental options across the country, and one of these may be attractive enough for you to consider packing your moving containers and relocating. If so, you may want to contact your moving company for more information on one of these, or another popular destination.

Charlotte
If you are interested in moving to the Southeast, then Charlotte may be a good destination for those looking to save on rent. The city has a good amount of open apartments, as it has a vacancy rate of 5.5 percent, Forbes noted. Charlotte also has an average monthly rent of less than $800. What may make it even better is that it is much less expensive to rent than pay a mortgage in the city. Renting is more than $230 cheaper per month. This may be quite affordable, despite a yearly increase in rent of approximately 2 percent.

Seattle
The Pacific Northwest could also be a good place to rent, as the prices per month are far lower than what it would cost to buy a home and pay a mortgage. Citing information from Trulia, Businessweek noted that an average apartment with two bedrooms costs less than $1,600, while the average cost to purchase a home is more than $460,000. There also was a notable decline in rental prices in the past few years, and many in the area prefer to rent because of difficult lending conditions for homebuying.

Kansas City
Missouri is the home to plenty of places with a large number of things to do, so moving to Kansas City might be a good idea. The rent is relatively inexpensive, as it averages slightly higher than $700 per month, Forbes said. The rental prices rose slightly during recovery, but there are still plenty of places to grab an inexpensive option. Kansas City has a vacancy rate of 5.6 percent, and it is approximately $15 cheaper to rent an apartment than it is to pay a monthly mortgage in the area.

Omaha, Nebraska
Another option in the central part of the country is Omaha. The city hosts some affordable and attractive rental prices, as the average rent for a two-bedroom unit is $870, Businessweek noted, citing Trulia's stats. While the average home price for a two-bedroom is only $275,000, it is still much less expensive to rent in the area. On top of this, the employment rate in the city is much better than the national average, so you may be able to get a job and take in the high affordability of the area.

Tucson, Arizona
There are also plenty of affordable places in the Southwest, and Arizona could be a good place to start looking for a moving destination. Tucson is one of the least expensive rental destinations in the country, as the average rent per month is slightly more than $650, Forbes added. This could be a good choice, as the vacancy rate is nearly 6 percent. Grabbing an affordable apartment here may not be that difficult because of the availability. It is also approximately $25 cheaper to rent an apartment per month than it is to pay a mortgage, which can make a significant difference for many people.
