Best coastal cities in the country

Baltimore may be a great destination for you when looking for a coastal city.

Baltimore may be a great destination for you when looking for a coastal city.

Many people can't get enough of the coastline, no matter what time of year it is. If this sounds like you, it may be a good idea to look at some coastal towns and cities that may fit the bill. With such long stretches of coastline across the country, it is likely you won't have any trouble finding a place that is what you want. One of the following places may even be a spot that could work great to have as a moving destination. Contact your moving company to set something up.

Cocoa Beach, Florida
Whether you love space, or just want to hang out on the beach, one place on Florida's Atlantic coast may be a good place to move. Cocoa Beach has plenty going on, and it is only a short distance from Cape Canaveral, the home of the Kennedy Space Center. Since the installation of the space center more than 60 years ago, activity in nearby Cocoa Beach increased markedly, according to Coastal Living. This could be a great place to enjoy the beach year-round.

Baltimore
If you want to stay on the East Coast, but a big city is more of your speed, then heading to Baltimore may be a great idea. There is plenty of waterfront, even if it isn't really a place for beaches. Luckily, there are plenty of activities you can partake in, near the wharf, according to Travel and Leisure. This area provides many places to eat and shop, and it acts as the home of the National Aquarium. Plenty of places to relax and take in the sights of boards traveling in and out of port are available, as well.

Isle of Hope, Georgia
Looking for a family atmosphere is important to many people looking to get a change of pace. One of these spots that may be a perfect fit - although not often thought of - is Isle of Hope. The Georgia coastal town is small, but it may be a perfect quiet destination. The area is considered to be quite safe. Much of the town is locally-owned, as well. If you need a bigger city to visit, don't worry. Savannah is not a far drive from the town, and you can get everything you need and more visiting there.

San Francisco
The West Coast offers some perfect coastal destinations, both large and small. When looking at large options, there may not be one that can beat San Francisco. While the city itself likely has everything you could need, the coastline offers some of the most unique sights in the country. There is a beautiful view of the Golden Gate bridge from much of the city, and the waterfront area has plenty of great eating and shopping options. The city has plenty of scenic walking and biking areas, so you won't run out of things to explore near the shore.

Lewes, Delaware
Another area on the East Coast that may not be often thought of as a moving destination is located in Delaware. Lewes has plenty to offer as a coastal town, and its location also may be attractive. Washington, D.C., New York City and Philadelphia can be reached for day trips with relative ease. It also does not have a pricey real estate situation, so if you are looking to enjoy the coast, you may be able to afford it here. Compared to other coastal cities of its kind, it has a low number of tourists, which may give you a more private atmosphere.
