Army Reserve civilians complete military relocation to North Carolina

Many military workers are now settling into their new homes in North Carolina.

Twenty-two civilian workers have now completed their relocation from Fort McPherson in Georgia to Fort Bragg in North Carolina, DVIDS reports.

The move was the largest number of Reserve personnel moving into the base so far, as the ongoing Base Realignment and Closure plan continues to bring an influx of workers into North Carolina. The site said most reports of the relocation process went smoothly.

"They [wife and children] are settled," Richard Cunningham, a USARC Safety Office employee who purchased an area home last month, told the site. "I walked in this morning, the staff is ready to go. It was a quick and easy transition this morning and I'm glad to be here."

The relocation of the entire team will be an ongoing process, as a dozen or so more workers will be moving in each week through the end of the year.

The overall BRAC plan was designed by the military to cut down on infrastructure costs, and focus resources on a number of larger bases instead of smaller ones spread across the country. Fort McPherson in Georgia is one of a number of bases that is set to be closed.
