The Dude's bungalow and the Amityville horror house on the market

The Dude's California bungalow, made famous in the film The Big Lebowski, is for sale.

Two homes featured in classic movies of two different decades are both on the market.

Fans of the Coen brothers’ 1998 film The Big Lebowski probably won’t recognize the Dude’s one-bedroom bungalow if they attend an open house. The Dude’s run-down abode has been turned into part of a “gorgeous little compound” listed at $2.3 million, realtor Winston Cenac told LA Weekly. The 10,628 square foot lot of six bungalows is fully landscaped and previous tenants, some of whom were decorators, remodeled the building's interiors, according to Cenac.

For a surprising reason, fans of the 1979 scarefest The Amityville Horror might not recognize the Toms River, New Jersey, house where the film was shot. Filmmakers built a superstructure around the house, now on the market for $1.35 million, to make it look more like the Long Island residence where the real-life Amityville killings took place, according to The Detroit Free Press. The 10-bedroom colonial, located on Toms River, is extravagantly decorated and includes a pool.

When the owners of the real-life Amityville house put it on the market last year, hundreds of people attended a moving sale, Long Island Newsday reported.
