Sellers more open to pricing competitively

Home sellers are more willing to make deals with competitive pricing for homes now.

Home sellers are more willing to make deals with competitive pricing for homes now.

According to a recently released survey from more than 600 Coldwell Banker Real Estate professionals in the United States, homebuyers and sellers are agreeing more on home prices in 2012.

More than half, 51 percent, of the real estate professionals surveyed reported that sellers are more willing to price their homes competitively than they were a year ago. Forty-five percent of those surveyed said sellers are also more willing to change the appearance of their homes to attract buyers than they were a year ago.

"De-personalizing and making it easy for a buyer to imagine him or herself living in the property is crucial, especially when there are many homes on the market," said Jessica Edwards, Coldwell Banker Real Estate consumer specialist. "Within the past year, sellers were more willing to price their homes competitively and took my advice to make their home inviting and appealing to a broad cross-section of potential buyers."

With mortgage applications decreasing according to the Mortgage Bankers Association, sellers are doing as much as they can to entice buyers into purchasing their homes. Given competitive pricing, homebuyers closing a deal might be less worried about moving expenses than they would be if they were paying more for a property. However, it's still shrewd to contact relocation companies and research what options might be most cost effective, such as moving pods.
