The Atelier is in close proximity to the Broadway theater where Phifer is starring in a play that singer Alicia Keys is producing, called "Stick Fly."
The Harlem-born actor is one of several celebrities who live in the building, according to Dan Neiditch, president of River 2 River Realty, which handles rentals and sales for the building.
"We have a lot of celebrity clientele who are attracted to the Atelier for the amazing views, amenities and our security," he said to TheRealDeal.com. "Also, the proximity of our location for Broadway show stars makes it a very convenient luxury rental."
According to StreetEasy.com, the last apartment that was rented in the building was a two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit with an asking price close to $6,000 per month. The apartment is thought to be Phifer's.
The Atelier features an indoor pool, 24-hour doorman, a 12,000-square-foot health club, rooftop lounge, basketball court and complimentary daily breakfast.
TheRealDeal.com reports many other celebrities have lived in the Atelier, including Lindsay Lohan, Bredan Fraser and "Entourage" actress Dania Ramirez.
