With the help of several real estate businesses, Forbes magazine recently put together a list of upscale properties with amenities that most people can only dream about doing for their own home.
For instance, in Las Vegas, Forbes says there's a $10 million property for sale that has its own water park and lazy river. And in Beverly Hills, deep-pocketed owners of a $4.2 million estate built an underwater observation room.
"The quirkier they [extreme amenities] are, the more they complicate the prospects of reselling the property," said Tara-Nicholle Nelson, a consumer educator for Trulia.com in an interview with the business magazine. Nelson was quick to note, however, that these unusual renovations sometimes play to the seller's advantage as it differentiates them from the competition.
In a recent report, the National Association of Home Builders said low-priced properties are doing well in the market, but the sales rate of expensive homes are by no means suffering, as celebrity real estate news from Zillow.com has indicated.
