California all-stars selling their homes

Former Los Angeles Dodger Adrian Beltre has put his California house on the market.

Former Los Angeles Dodger Adrian Beltre has put his California house on the market.

Two all-star athletes are moving house and have put their luxurious California digs on the market, according to real estate website Trulia.

Super Bowl MVP Jerry Rice, former wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers, has listed his Bay Area home for $13.9 million. Located in the affluent enclave of Atherton, Rice's house encompasses 16,000 square feet and includes seven bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. In addition to an elevator, the residence is wired with more than $2 million in technological features, including a security system and home theater, while a pool and 7-car garage reside outside.

Downstate, former all-star Los Angeles Dodgers third-baseman Adrian Beltre is asking $19 million for his 16,600 square foot home. Trulia says one of the mansion's selling points is "an impressive Man Cave." The estate is also a sports lover's dream, with a batting cage, golf greens, tennis and basketball courts and a pool. The house itself is a Mediterranean-style construction with marble floors and crystal chandeliers. A 2,500 square foot guest house has two bedrooms and three bathrooms.

While DataQuick recently reported Southern California home sales were up in June, Rice might be in a better position to sell quickly than Beltre. According to Coldwell Banker, luxury properties in the Bay Area have sold especially fast this summer.
