Petra Ecclestone, daughter of Formula One racing chief Bernie Ecclestone, is closing on "The Manor," the Los Angeles home of the late TV producer Aaron Spelling. The estate comprises 5 acres, and the 57,000 square foot house includes a flower-cutting room and gift-wrapping rooms.
After moving into a $35 million condo in 2008, Spelling's widow, Candy, put The Manor on the market for $150 million, making it the most expensive listing in the country.
Though the final sale price has not been revealed publicly, Candy Spelling never lowered the asking price despite a struggling California housing market..
The purchase of the Spelling estate comes at a time when home sales are down and house prices are falling in Southern California, according to DataQuick. The median price of sold properties in May 2011 was $280,000 (0.18 percent of the asking price of The Manor), which was down 8.2 percent from May 2010. Sales volume in Los Angeles was down 18.30 percent over the same period.
