Bristol Palin bought the five-bedroom Arizona home for $172,000.

Bristol Palin, daughter of former Governor of Alaska and Vice Presidential-nominee Sarah Palin, recently bought a five-bedroom house in Maricopa, Arizona, according to the Arizona Republic.

The paper reported Palin bought the house earlier in December for $172,000, paying for the home entirely in cash. Maricopa is located in Pinal County.

The Republic said the home was built in 2006 and bought for $329,560 but went into foreclosure in January of this year.

Since running for Vice President alongside Sen. John McCain in 2008, the newspaper stated Sarah Palin has been a frequent visitor to Arizona.

Michael Smith, the home's previous owner, told the Republic he wasn't "sure why she wanted to buy that home," but that he's excited to have her living in the home.

According to Trulia, a real estate information website, the median sales price for homes in Maricopa from September 10 to November 10 of this year was $104,845 based on 778 home sales. Compared to the same period one year ago, the median home sales price decreased 8.8 percent and the total number of home sales decreased 29.3 percent.
