Bon Jovi lists New York duplex

The SoHo duplex that Jon Bon Jovi called home is now listed by the rocker at a record price: $45 million. That's more than $10 million pricier than the Superior Ink penthouse that was sold last year by Houston Rockets owner Leslie Alexander for $31.5 million.

Bon Jovi bought the home in 2007 for $24 million and renovated it recently. The New York Observer reported that the massive home was referred to in 2007 Prudential Elliman real estate listing as "the most significant downtown property of all.

Moving trucks may be a common sight near 158 Mercer Street when the rocker moves out of the sprawling property. The 7,400-square-foot space has six bedrooms and 6.5 baths, three terraces, arched windows and 12-foot ceilings.

SoHo is a ritzy area of Manhattan, with an average listing price of $3.25 million for the week ending September 28, according to Trulia, up 0.2 percent from the previous week. The median sales price from June to August 2011 was $2.26 million, a year-over-year increase of 0.2 percent.
