A sportsman famous for riding monster waves has put his home on the market, while a celebrity who can dive into pools without making a splash has bought Ben Stiller's Los Angeles mansion.
Superstar surfer Laird Hamilton's home on the north shore of Maui, Hawaii, is listed for $2.75 million by Hawaii Life Real Estate Services. Laird chose the house because it overlooks the legendary surf spot known as Jaws, according to Hawaii Life, which describes the 6,400 square foot home as part sanctuary, part training facility. The whole first floor is a gym, while the house is situated in a peaceful, verdant tropical oasis and features a natural swimming pool fed by waterfalls.
Jason Statham is best known these days for roles in action movies such as The Expendables and The Mechanic, but he was an Olympic diver before becoming a matinee idol. The athlete turned movie star has just bought fellow actor Ben Stiller's Hollywood Hills home for a reported $2.7 million. Statham's previous home was a luxurious post-and-beam construction with, naturally, a pool, but his new pad is more expansive, Forbes reports. The property, described as "lushly landscaped" by real estate company Trulia, includes two separate houses - a restored 1929 Spanish-style construction and a contemporary Mediterranean-style residence.
As a Hollywood Hills newcomer, Statham will join singer Katy Perry and her actor husband Russell Brand, who also recently bought a home in the area.
