Some moving companies not always what they seem

Choosing the right moving company is an important choice when all of a family's belongings are being brought to their new home. But some advertised moving companies may not actually be what they seem.

When finding a company online, it's important to make sure that they have their own facilities and trucks. Some online companies are just lead generators who will sell a person's information to a large number of moving companies that will then inundate a family with telephone calls.

"Be sure to take time to do a little research to find a reputable and experienced moving company, who will meet your unique needs and make the moving process an easy one for you," said James Sullivan, president of Humboldt Storage and Moving.

To help find a reputable moving company, it's important that people consult with their family and friends, collegues and internet reviews to keep from signing up with a substandard company.

Moving is an issue that affects a great number of people. The U.S. Census Bureau estimates that roughly one in every six Americans move each year.
