Florida, California and Texas attracted the most moving families, according to Census Data.

A new report finds that more people are choosing California, Florida and Texas when moving across state lines.

An analysis of Census data, released as part of the American Community Survey, finds that those three states were the strongest population magnets in the country from 2007 to 2008 - right at the beginning of the recession - with each of them being the top relocation destination for moving families in six different states.

Most of the migration activity was regional, with California and Texas drawing mainly from the Western and Southern states, respectively. But Florida also attracted a number of residents from other areas, as it was the top destination for those leaving Massachusetts, Michigan and Alaska.

Minnesota, Virginia and Washington State also ranked highly, and were the top destination for residents of three states apiece.

However, the recession may have altered many of these moving trends, reports Business First of Buffalo. Many new residents in California and Florida, in particular, may have already left the state due to the recent struggles of the housing markets in those regions.
