It is important to eat before moving.
When preparing for a move, it is important to keep in mind that you are not only packing, but you have to help yourself get ready for a long and arduous day when the moving company arrives. However, there are some items that you can take care of in advance, which could make the process easier.
It is essential to eat a full dinner the night before the move, and to make sure that you don't consume alcohol. While eating can help provide you energy - especially if it is a healthy option - alcohol will dehydrate you and make you tired.
Drink plenty of fluids for a few days up to the move, no matter the temperature or humidity in your moving area. Having the correct amount of hydration will help you be more productive throughout your move. However, don't just drink leading up to the move. During any physical activity, it is important to keep water or a sports drink close at hand. You will need it.
Caffeine may not be a bad idea when moving, especially if you drink coffee or energy drinks when going into work in the morning. By sticking to your daily routine, you will be able to be the strongest and most alert that you possibly can, which could be invaluable later on. Furthermore, many people develop headaches or don't feel right if they skip caffeine for the day, so it could benefit to drink a cup with breakfast, even if it is a bit dehydrating.
As previously mentioned, eating before activities is an important practice. Now, when you go to move for the day, make sure you eat something for breakfast. Don't make it heavy - that's what your previous evening's dinner was for - just find something quick to satisfy you and get your ready for the day. If you want, having granola bars or trail mix throughout the day can help keep your energy up.
Finally, take breaks when you need to. There is no reason a person moving should get exhausted and burn out early in the move. If you need a minute to stand around and stretch, do it. Not only will this conserve energy, but it will also help prevent injury.
