Should I file a Shipper's Export Declaration Form?

The U.S. Department of Commerce requires that individuals shipping items to or from Puerto Rico complete a Shipper's Export Declaration (SED) form if the shipment contains a single item or multiple like items with U.S. Dollar value greater than $2,500. Failure to complete and file an SED form is a violation of federal law and may result in significant civil penalties. For more information, please visit the U.S. Census Bureau web site.

To remain in compliance with federal law, ABF U-Pack Moving® requires a pre-faxed, authorization to file the SED form on your behalf. This will need to be completed and returned at least one week prior to your trailer or ReloCube drop off date. The paperwork will be imaged and filed for you with the U.S. Census Bureau prior to your shipment departing. The process will help ensure that your shipment is not detained.
