The activities in Reno are limitless, and they change with the seasons. In the summer, residents swim, ski and boat at Lake Tahoe, the Truckee River and Pyramid Lake. Then they play golf at some of Reno's 50 golf courses. During the winter months, residents and tourists alike visit the area's world class resorts for skiing, snowboarding and other snowy excitement! Be sure to bring the snow sled, as about 21 inches of snow falls per year in the valley.

Learn something
The University of Nevada at Reno is the oldest university in the state. It was named one of the top 200 colleges in the nation in a U.S. News and World Report. You can also attend Truckee Meadows Community College to study architecture, dental hygiene, graphic design, nursing, or welding. Public education in Reno is provided by the Washoe County School District. There are 11 high schools in the Washoe School District, however; many residents who live in Reno send their kids to one of three public high schools in the neighboring city of Sparks. Between the two school districts, there are 13 middle schools and 64 elementary schools. Reno has many charter schools and private schools to choose from.

Events
Reno holds some great events throughout the year to promote tourism, but you can enjoy them as a family once you’re settled in. They include hot August Nights (classic car convention), Street Vibrations (motorcycle fan rally), The Great Reno Balloon Race, a Cinco de Mayo celebration, bowling tournaments, and air races. There’s plenty to attend in Reno!

Economy
Besides being home to many casinos, Reno is home to corporate companies like Braeburn Capital, Hamilton, Port of Subs, and International Game Technology (manufactures slot machines).
