Weather. San Francisco is known for mild weather.  With most days ranging between 50 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit, San Francisco is always perfect for outdoor activities. The cool ocean currents keep a breeze blowing most of the time.  Also, the many hills often get fog-covered making for some breathtaking scenes in the mornings.

Neighborhoods. There are many neighborhoods in San Fran, both major districts and smaller developments.  There are five main districts: Central, Richmond, Sunset, Upper Market, and Bayview/Bernal Heights.  The San Francisco Planning Department actually identifies 36 neighborhoods within those five major ones.  Even within those, there are smaller districts.  Some more well-known areas are Haight, Marina, Mission, Chinatown, and Nob Hill.  Haight is well-known for its popularity as a hippie hangout in the 1960s.  Today it is still a boho neighborhood with plenty of unique shops.  The Marina district is home to one of the city’s hot nightlife areas, and is full of young professionals.  Nob Hill is one of the more affluent districts, and is also home to many of the city’s parks. 

Arts and Culture. You can enjoy the arts in many different ways after moving to San Francisco, CA!  The city offers residents everything from the opera, ballet, theater, symphony, music festivals, and concerts galore!  If you are in the mood for museums, you will find many around the area.  There is also a planetarium, aquarium, and even an Exploratorium – an interactive museum.  Don’t miss the Asian Art Museum, either!  It features over 18,000 pieces of art spanning 6,000 years and many countries.

Sports and Recreation. San Francisco has many different types of recreation available to residents.  With more than 200 different parks, you can do virtually anything!  Biking, skateboarding, water aerobics, golf, tennis, volleyball, softball, baseball…you name it, San Francisco offers it!  Also, because of its oceanside location, you can enjoy surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, or just walking along the shore.  If you enjoy watching sports, you can catch a San Francisco 49ers football game, a Giants baseball, or any number of college sports games.

Education. If you are moving to San Francisco with children, the San Francisco Unified School District serves the area with schools from pre-school to high school. Lowell High School, part of the district, is the oldest high school west of the Mississippi!  If you want to pursue higher education in San Francisco, you can choose from City College of San Francisco, San Francisco State University, University of California, San Francisco, Art Institute of California, DeVry University, and many more!
