Passaic, NJ

Moving to Passaic—Fastest Growing City in New Jersey
Despite being dubbed the fastest growing city in New Jersey, Passaic’s population is only around 70,000, making it a comfortably small city. Southeast of Paterson, Passaic is a neighboring city of Clifton, which is slightly larger, and the Passaic River borders the east side. Just 10 miles from New York City, and 12 miles from Newark Airport, you can enjoy suburban family life and still be close to the big city.

Besides suburban living, the state of New Jersey isn’t known as the Garden State for nothing. Almost 800,000 acres of farmland contribute to the steady agricultural production of blueberries, cranberries, peaches and more. While you can certainly visit roadside and community markets for local produce, you can also visit the farms directly and pick your own as a family outing or just to get away from the city for a bit of sunshine and open space. The Pinelands National Reserve is another great outlet for outdoor activities. Hiking and biking trails, campgrounds, or canoeing are just a few of the family-friendly pastimes you can enjoy if you feel the need to escape the suburbs.

Transportation. The local bus and rail station is provided through the New Jersey Transit, and gives residents easy access to Paterson, Newark, Clifton, and Midtown Manhattan.

Education. Passaic City Schools provides education to over 13,500 students. Passaic County Community College serves approximately 8,000 students. While the main campus is located in Paterson, the Passaic Academic Center is a fairly new campus located right in the city of Passaic. This campus emphasizes the Nursing Program, but also offers other general education courses including English as a Second Language (ESL).

Nearby. The area surrounding Passaic is full of possibilities for employment, entertainment, and education. The state of New Jersey is known for its extensive shoreline of beaches and lighthouses. Staten Island is only 15 miles from Passaic. And Atlantic City, which is the East Coast’s version of Las Vegas, is about 2 hours away.
