  • Transportation. The Springfield Mass Transit District operates 56 buses on 12 bus routes throughout Springfield.  One-way bus fare is $1.00, and passes are available.  Bike trails throughout Springfield are plentiful.
  • Economy. The majority of the workforce is employed by the State of Illinois or one of the surrounding hospitals.  Government activity is definitely what keeps the local economy afloat.  Unemployment is well below average.    
  • Recreation. Springfield’s Henson Robinson Zoo is home to more than 300 animals native to Australia, Africa, Asia, North America, and South America.  The zoo is open year round, and even offers zoo classes for interested children and young teens.
  • Shopping. If you’re moving to Springfield, IL with an addiction to shopping, get your fix at White Oaks Mall!  They have something for everyone!  Anchored by Dick's Sporting Goods, Macy's and Sears, White Oaks Mall also offers more than 115 specialty stores including Abercrombie & Fitch, Gap, Gymboree, Hollister, Justice, rue21, and Yankee Candle.
